8 Great Sex Exercises for Men
Senior Man ExercisingThere are many reasons that men exercise. It is good for boosting energy, improving cardiovascular health, it helps you get stronger, and it helps maintain strong bones. But did you know that certain exercises are good for sex? Sometimes it is hard to stay motivated, but these great sex exercises for men might renew your interest in exercise.
Sex exercises for men (think “sexercises”) include several different activities, athletic moves, and stretches you can do to improve your sex life. These sex exercises can improve your sexual stamina and strengthen the muscles in your pelvic region as well as other muscles that can help with position. Exercises like Kegels can help you with premature ejaculation plus can assist in maintaining stronger erections and combating erectile dysfunction (ED).
By incorporating the below 8 great sex exercises for men into your weekly routine you may get such benefits as losing weight, gaining muscle tone, and increasing flexibility all while directing blood flow to your genitals. These exercises can make a positive difference in your body’s appearance, which not only will improve your confidence but also may attract more positive attention from your partner. Studies show that for men and women over 55 year of age, higher degrees of fitness are associated with higher levels of sexual activity when compared to younger, inactive people. So what are you waiting for? Get moving.
Aerobic Exercise
Man runningThere are many benefits of aerobic exercises like walking or jogging. A UC study on middle-age, sedentary men had the men walk for one hour three times a week. This improved:
sexual function,
their sexual occurrence, and
the quality of their orgasms.
How does it work? Aerobic exercise improves blood flow to the genitals, which assists with producing stronger and longer erections. Aerobic exercise is associated with a 30% lower risk of ED. It is also great for the rest of you too, and aerobic exercise is among the best exercises for prostate health.
Try walking or jogging with your partner. The time you spend outside, talking, and sharing is good for better intimacy and putting you in touch with each other. Walking also relieves stress, releases endorphins, and increases blood flow to the genitals. All these things may lead to more frequent sex.
YogaScreen Shot 2014-10-08 at 8.01.25 PMYoga has many benefits for men’s health. Yoga
improves strength,
tones muscles,
improves flexibility,
reduces stress,
increases blood flow, and
stimulates the endocrine system.
Yoga movements can help you maintaining certain sexual positions for long periods, plus doing yoga can improve your sexual stamina. The bow pose and peacock pose are particularly helpful moves for helping men in the bedroom.
Push-Ups and Sit-Ups
Screen Shot 2014-10-08 at 8.10.37 PMPush-ups and sit-ups can help strengthen the muscles you use during intercourse. These exercises target your abdominals, chest, and shoulders. When these areas are toned you’ll also appear more attractive to your partner, which can also lead to more frequent intercourse.
Kegel Exercises
Kegels can be important sex exercises for men that offer many health benefits without adding any cardiovascular strain. Kegel exercises help you build pelvic muscle strength as you contract, flex, and squeeze the pubococcygeous (PC) muscles in the pelvic floor. Kegels help in delaying premature ejaculation as well as improve endurance and strength of erection.
The pelvic floor is a group of muscles that help support and hold your internal organs in place. The PC muscles run from your urinary sphincter to your anus. To do Kegels, you squeeze and tighten the PC muscles, drawing them up into the body. Hold the squeeze for about 10 seconds. You can start doing 10 to 20 Kegels per day and work your way up to 100 to 200 per day. You should begin to notice a difference in your sexual health within a month or two. You can easily and discreetly do Kegels anywhere (while sitting at a red light, riding a train, watching TV, or sitting at your desk). The muscles you squeeze are the ones that you use to stop the flow of urine midstream. If you have premature ejaculation you can delay ejaculation by squeezing the PC muscles before you ejaculate.
A word of caution. If you suffer from chronic prostatitis and pelvic pain, talk to you doctor before doing Kegels. They could increase pelvic tension and pain.
Swimming
Screen Shot 2014-10-08 at 8.04.10 PMSwimming is a great exercise for improving endurance and libido. Swimming for 30 minutes three times a week:
increases muscle tone,
tones core muscles around waist and pelvic area,
promotes weight loss, and
makes you look and feel more attractive.
Swimming is great for aging health because it does not put stress on the joints and bones. One study shows that swimmers who are in their 60s have sex lives that are comparable to people in their 40s.
Pelvic Stretches
The following three sex exercises for men involve pelvic stretches. Pelvic stretches help keep the muscles you use during sex limber and flexible, plus they help facilitate orgasm. Here are so tips for doing pelvic stretches:
Do each stretch on a firm mattress or on the floor or on a mat.
Wear loose and flexible clothing,
Play some music.
Have your partner assist—the exercises can be arousing.
Pelvic Lifts
Follow these steps for doing pelvic lifts:
Lie on your back with your knees bent and slightly apart.
Place your feet flat on the floor.
Put you arms at your side.
Inhale, clenching your abdominals and buttocks.
Lift the pelvis until your back is straight.
Do not arch your back.
Hold the position for at least 10 seconds.
Exhale as you lower your body.
Repeat.
The Butterfly
Follow these steps for doing the butterfly while lying down:
Lie on your back with bent knees.
Place feet together and flat on the floor or bed.
Pull feet in until they touch the buttocks.
Open knees out to the sides of the bed
Turn your ankles so the soles of your feet are facing each other and touching.
Gently lower your knees toward the floor.
Do not to force them down.
You or your partner may gently press downward on your inner thighs.
When knees are as far apart as comfortable, hold that position for 60 seconds.
Slowly and gently bring knees together with hands
Relax.
You can also do the butterfly exercise while sitting up, back-to-back with your partner. Follow these guidelines for the sitting butterfly with a partner:
Sit up as straight as possible with your backs pressed gently together.
Keep your head in line with your spine.
Relax your shoulders.
Pull your feet in as close to your body as possible.
Lower your knees out turn your feet so that your soles touch.
Clasp your feet.
Breathe deeply and watch as your knees begin to lower.
Do not to force the knees down.
Pelvic Bounces
According to sex therapists David and Ellen Ramsdale, pelvic bounces can “evoke powerful sexual feelings.” The goal is to feel a sense of openness and release. To do pelvic bounces, follow these steps:
As with the pelvic lift, bend knees and have them slightly apart.
Face palms up.
As you inhale, lift pelvis slightly off the ground.
Exhale and let it down so your lower back bounces gently against the floor.
Experiment with variations.
Improving Sexual Health with Sex Exercises
The bottom line on sexual health is that doing “sexercises” can improve your health in several ways beyond sexual health. Exercise improves prostate health, helps boost immunity, is important in disease prevention, reduces stress, and provides cardiovascular benefits.
Because so much of our sexuality is psychological, relieving stress and relaxing the mind can help you achieve better sexual function. Regular exercise also helps you look good and feel better about yourself. Your partner can’t help but be more attracted to your leaner, toned, and stronger body and is sure to notice better performance in the bedroom.
When your sexual performance and appearance improves, you will gain more confidence, which will further improve your sexual health as well. People who exercise usually have a better body image than people who don’t, and this can help you feel more sexually appealing. A study found that 80% of men and 60% of women who exercised two to three times per week felt they had above average sexual desirability.
Even More Tips for Better Sex
If push-ups, crunches, and yoga aren’t your idea of a sweaty good time, you still have plenty of exercise options to help keep things steamy. If walking, jogging, swimming, or yoga are getting old, try a Pilates or Zumba class. Perhaps you prefer biking or skiing? Great, because Paul Frediani, fitness coach and co-author of Sex Flex: The Way to Enhanced Intimacy and Pleasure, says that barring any health problems, cardiovascular exercise of any kind is a great way to stimulate your sex life.
Aim to get a 30-minute workout five times a week. If you get your blood pumping regularly the payoff is simple: endurance, more strength to hold positions, and the flexibility to hold them in comfort. Now that’s sexy.
You may already be sold on the benefits of exercise, but here’s a bonus at no extra charge. Exercise may help beat ED. One study showed that, for men over 50, being physically active means a 30% lower risk of ED as compared to men who are sedentary. Studies also show a strong link between obesity and ED.
And don’t forget to develop the most important muscle of all. “Sex begins with the muscle between the ears,” says Frediani, “not the muscles in your abs, arms, or thighs. If you feel healthy and have a positive body image, you will have a better sex life.”

Do Penis Pumps Work?
September 21, 2011 by Deborah Mitchell
Do Penis Pumps Work?
Does size matter? For many men it does, and not only in the bedroom. You may wonder if your penis is a normal length or an average size, and if your penis size and length satisfy your sex partner. Your concerns may lead you to look for ways to increase the length and size of your penis, but you’re not sure you can believe the penis pump lengthening ads you’ve seen in magazines or on the Internet.
You have good reason to question these ads. The old adage, “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is” generally applies to claims of penis lengthening with a penis pump. One of the claims is that a penis pump can increase penis length and size, and to a certain extent it is true.
Benefits of a Penis Pump
Perhaps more important, however, are the benefits you can get from a penis pump, which include supporting penile tissue health and maintaining penis length and size after prostatectomy (prostate surgery). But use of a penis pump isn’t limited to men who have had a prostatectomy: Some men also find that using a penis pump helps them maintain penis size and length as their nighttime erections (nocturnal erections) decline in number or if they want to help improve their erections.
If any of these scenarios describe you, then you could benefit from using a penis pump. Here’s how the penis pump (also known as a vacuum erection device [VED] or vacuum constriction device) works.
What is a Penis Pump?
A penis pump consists of a pump that is attached to a cylinder and is designed to help men who have erectile dysfunction achieve and maintain an erection. To use a penis pump, you place the transparent cylinder, which is fitted with an airtight seal at its base, over your penis. You then use the pump, which can be operated either electrically or manually, to pump the air out of the cylinder, which creates a partial vacuum around your penis. The vacuum forces blood to flow into the penis, which results in an immediate increase in both penis length and size. You then remove the cylinder and place a constriction ring at the base of your penis to maintain your erection for sexual intercourse.
A penis pump can be an effective treatment if you have erectile dysfunction, especially if you have not responded to other treatments for erectile dysfunction, or the options caused unacceptable side effects. Most men who use a penis pump can achieve an erection sufficient for sex. The risk of side effects with a penis pump is low, the overall cost is less than other erectile dysfunction treatments, and a penis pump can be used along with other treatments, including medications for erectile dysfunction.
Penis Pump after Prostate Surgery (Prostatectomy)
One of the side effects of radical prostatectomy (prostate surgery) that men don’t hear much about is a reduction in penis length, which occurs in about half of men who have the surgery. The loss of penis length and size, along with erectile dysfunction, which is also common among men who have a prostatectomy, can be a real blow for men recovering from prostate cancer surgery.
One effective way to maintain penis length and size after prostatectomy is to use a penis pump soon after surgery. The success of this approach has been demonstrated in a number of penis pump studies.
One study involved 42 men who had good sexual function before they underwent nerve-sparing radical prostatectomy. The day after the men had their catheters removed, they began daily use of a penis pump for 90 days. Thirty-six men used the penis pump more than 50 percent of the 90 days, and only one of those men had a decrease in penis length of 1.0 centimeter or more. When you compare these results with previous research, in which 48 percent of men had a significant reduction in penis length after prostatectomy, it appears that use of a penis pump soon after surgery is an effective way to preserve penis length. (Dalkin 2007)
Similar positive results were also seen in another study. This one involved 28 men who were randomly assigned to use a penis pump at either one month (17 men, group 1) or six months (11 men, group 2) after undergoing nerve-sparing radical prostatectomy. Men in group 1 used the penis pump 10 minutes daily for 5 months without a constriction ring. After three months, penis length had decreased by about 2 centimeters in men in group 2 but was preserved in group 1 in all men. At 12 months, only 2 of the 17 men in group 1 had a loss of penis length 2 centimeters or greater compared with 5 of 11 men in group 2. Based on these findings, the researchers concluded that using a penis pump within one month after radical prostatectomy helps to preserve penis length. (Kohler 2007)
At Cleveland Clinic Foundation, 141 men were offered various non-oral treatment options, including a penis pump, to prevent erectile dysfunction after radical prostatectomy. At 5 years, 62% of the men were sexually active, and nearly 60% of them had used a penis pump as early treatment after prostatectomy. (Raina 2010)
Penis Pump plus Cialis after Prostatectomy
Men who combined use of a penis pump and tadalafil (Cialis) after prostatectomy also found that the combination helped them preserve penis length and erection function. After undergoing nerve-sparing radical prostatectomy, seven men received tadalafil (20 mg three times weekly) only, while 13 men took tadalafil plus use of a penis pump (10 minutes daily for at least 5 days weekly). The men started treatments one month after surgery and had clinic visits at 1, 3, 6, 9, and 12 months. Before each visit, the men were asked to attempt intercourse at least twice.
Men who took tadalafil and used the penis pump had significantly greater scores for penile hardness and on the International Index of Erectile Function than did men in the tadalafil-only group. After 12 months, 92% of men in the penis pump group were able to achieve intercourse to orgasm compared with only 29% in the tadalafil-only group. (Engel 2011)
Penis Pump for Better Erections
Although a penis pump is proving itself to be an effective treatment for erectile dysfunction and for maintaining penis length after prostatectomy, it can also help men who want to have better erections and to preserve erectile function even among men who have not had prostate cancer treatment. The reason for this is simple: use of a penis pump improves oxygenation of penile tissues and enhances blood flow to the penis, and reduces the chance of formation of cavernosal fibrosis (abnormal fibrous tissue in the penis), all of which can increase the chances of preserving erectile function and penis length. (Yuan 2010) In fact, a lack or decline of nighttime erections can lead to cavernosal fibrosis. Therefore, if you have noticed a decline in nighttime erections and/or you want to help preserve penis length and erectile function, talk to your doctor about using a penis pump.
Can A Penis Pump Increase Penis Length and Size?
Do Penis Pumps Work? While the good news is that your penis will likely increase in length and size when using a penis pump, the gains are only temporary. Some men who use a penis pump regularly, about three to five times a week for at least 20 minutes per session, claim they can maintain greater penis length. However, if they stop using the penis pump for a few days, their penis returns to its previous size, as it was before the penis pump.
Other Ways to Increase Penis Length and Size
But if your penis length and size are still a concern and a temporary penis pump solution is not what you want, there are surgical techniques that can increase the length of your penis. One involves cutting the ligament that connects the penis to the pelvis, which may allow more of the penile shaft to be visible. After this surgery, you will need to use weights or stretching devices on your penis every day for about six months to prevent the ligament from reattaching. For all this effort, you may get an additional inch or two, depending on the size of your penis. Another surgical approach can add width to your penis and involves inserting donor human skin (processed to remove all the cells) under the skin of the penis shaft.
If surgery is not what you had in mind, don’t count on a penis pump to make your penis longer or wider—at least not in the long-term. But a penis pump can increase penis length and size in the short-term and has been proven useful in studies for post prostate surgery restoration of erectile function.

7 Ways to Shrink Your Prostate

7 Ways to Shrink Your Prostate
7 ways to shrink your prostateIf you are like most men looking for ways to shrink your prostate, you most likely have symptoms of an enlarged prostate, otherwise known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Symptoms of BPH can include nocturia (nighttime urination), urinary hesitation, a urine stream that stops and goes, a weaker urine stream, and not being able to empty your bladder completely. While these symptoms do not threaten your health (besides risk of infection from not emptying your bladder) they do greatly affect your quality of life and can indicate that your prostate health is not optimized.
Before you run out in search of ways to shrink your prostate, be aware that size doesn’t matter. You can have an enlarged prostate without the symptoms of BPH, while another man with a normal size prostate may experience urinary symptoms. Whatever your case, your goal should be to improve your prostate health through natural methods and this in turn will help you to make positive changes in your prostate and urinary health.
The best plan for maximizing your prostate health involves eating the right foods, avoiding the wrong ones, losing weight, maintaining a healthy weight, exercising daily, and managing your hormones. It is also important to manage your stress level and take steps to fight inflammation. By following these 7 ways to shrink your prostate you can improve your prostate health and prevent other prostate health problems (such as prostatitis or even prostate cancer) down the road.
Eat the Right Foods
You might not think of how what you put in your mouth affects your prostate, but diet plays a large role in prostate health. You can decrease inflammation and slow the growth of your prostate by eating the best foods for prostate health.
A Mediterranean style diet is one of the best diets for prostate health. It includes eating oily fish rich in omega-3 fatty acids (like salmon, tuna, herring, and anchovies). This diet also allows you to indulge in other healthy fats like the ones found in seeds, nuts, olives, and avocados. You should eat a lot of vegetables, because men who eat a lot of vegetables have a decreased risk for BPH. Look for cruciferous vegetables (think broccoli, cauliflower, kale, and cabbage) as well as vegetables with a high vitamin C content.
Avoid or limit the worst foods that your prostate hates. These foods that hurt prostate health include spicy foods (which can exacerbate pain and other symptoms of prostatitis), fried foods, processed foods, white bread products, sugar, artificial sweeteners, dairy foods, and red meat. Cut out salty foods and limit your alcohol intake. You also should limit caffeinated beverages like coffee, tea, and soda, which can worsen your urinary symptoms.
Choose Plant Protein over Animal Protein
The best protein for prostate health is from plant sources rather than animal products. Animal protein is more strongly associated with symptoms of BPH than is plant protein, so incorporate more plant-based proteins into your diet. Studies have also linked dairy and meat products to an increased risk for prostate cancer, so substituting plant protein in your diet provides many positive prostate health benefits. You can get some your daily protein from sources such as beans, lentils, pumpkin seeds, quinoa, tempeh, seitan, and some high-protein grains.
Exercise Regularly
If you start exercising regularly, you may be surprised at the results. Studies have shown that exercise can prevent BPH and help manage BPH symptoms. The best exercises for prostate health include aerobic and resistance exercises. Just be sure to vary your workouts to get the most benefit.
Lose Weight
One of the benefits of eating better and exercising more is weight loss, and that is good news for your prostate. Obesity is linked to several different prostate health issues from BPH to prostatitis to prostate cancer. If you have been putting on weight, lose the excess fat and you may find that you also shed some unwanted prostate symptoms as well.
Manage Hormones
Managing your hormone production is an important step in managing your aging prostate health. Your hormone production changes as you get older. An enzyme and hormone called 5-alpha-reductase converts testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). This can cause your testosterone levels to drop and create imbalance between your testosterone and estrogen, leading to an enlarged prostate. You can naturally manage your hormones through exercise, maintaining a healthy weight, and by using supplements.
Take Supplements
There are many well-researched prostate health supplements that support both your prostate and urinary health. Supplements can promote your body’s efforts to regulate your hormones and maintain a normal prostate size. Another benefit of taking supplements is that many of them are rich in immune-boosting antioxidants and can help reduce inflammation naturally.
The best prostate supplements associated with encouraging your body’s efforts to manage prostate size include the following:
Pollen extracts

Manage Stress
Managing the stress in your life is good for your health in many ways. In terms of your prostate health, stress management can help you to decrease inflammation and pelvic tension (which can also lead to chronic prostatitis, a condition that causes chronic pain and urinary symptoms). In terms of BPH, stress can worsen symptoms like urinary frequency, urinary urgency, and painful urination. Stress can also lower your level of zinc, a mineral that is important for good prostate health.
There are several ways to reduce and manage stress. Some of the easy methods you can do on your own include meditation, breathing exercises, guided visualization, yoga, and exercise. You may also look into counseling or group therapy if you can’t seem to manage stress and anxiety on your own. Find a healthy way to handle your stress and you will find not just better prostate health but better all-over health.
Your lifestyle greatly affects your prostate health from the food you eat to the exercises you do to the supplements you take. Following all of the above ways to shrink your prostate can help you in preventing BPH symptoms from getting worse and help you get a better night’s sleep. Taking steps to improve your prostate health through these efforts can help you to naturally manage your prostate health, avoid taking medications with negative side effects, and prevent future health problems.
